It is believed that Shani Dev is a great devotee of Lord Krishna. To gain the darshan (sight) of Lord Krishna, Shani Dev performed rigorous penance in the Dvapara Yuga. Lord Krishna revealed himself to Shani Dev in the form of a cuckoo near Nandavan, 60 km from Mathura. Since then, this place has become very dear to Shani Dev. Even today, fairs are held here, and the divine energy of Shani Dev is present. This temple is also mentioned in the Puranas. It is said that after visiting this temple, one receives blessings from both Lord Krishna and Shani Dev.

The Legend of Kokila Van and Shani Dev

According to some stories, Shani Dev undertook severe penance to see his beloved Lord Krishna. Pleased with his penance, Lord Krishna manifested as a cuckoo for him. The forest where Krishna appeared to Shani Dev is called Kokila Van. All the Devta came to Earth to see Lord Krishna, and when Shani Dev arrived, Mother Yashoda hid the young Krishna in her veil. Shani Dev was very sad about not being able to see Krishna. Subsequently, he undertook intense penance to gain Krishna's sight. Lord Krishna then appeared to Shani Dev, instructing him to settle there and relieve people of their suffering.

In addition to Shani, auspicious planets like Jupiter (Guru) and Mercury, as well as Rahu and Ketu, begin to yield positive results. When anyone worships Krishna, who embodies Vishnu, during the Dasha or Antardasha of Guru and recites the mantra "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya," they often see very good results.
