Varalakshmi Vrat - Appeasing Goddess Lakshmi

Alongside pleasing Lord Shiva during the month of Sawan, worshiping other deities also holds significance. The last Friday of this Sawan month (10th day of waxing moon) is observed as Varalakshmi Vrat. On this day, Goddess Mahalakshmi is worshipped and a fast is observed. It is said that this Vrat pleases Mahalakshmi and bestows blessings of happiness and prosperity.

Importance of Varalakshmi Vrat:

As the name suggests, this Vrat grants special boons from Goddess Mahalakshmi. It is observed on the last Friday of Sawan, which falls on August 16th this year. This festival primarily attracts the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. It is widely observed in South India, with both men and women fasting on this day. It is said that even Goddess Parvati observed this Vrat to attain happiness and prosperity.

How to observe Varalakshmi Vrat:

Wake up early on the day of the Vrat, take a bath, and make a Sankalp to observe Varalakshmi Vrat in front of the Goddess.
Decorate the house entrance with rangoli.
Perform abhishekam of Goddess Mahalakshmi's idol and decorate it.
Offer favorite sweets of the Goddess as bhog.
Perform the puja in a stable position.
Have a meal at a specific time during the day.
Chant Mahalakshmi mantras throughout the day.
