Krishna Janmashtami

Krishna Janmashtami refers to the monthly celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon) in the Hindu calendar month. "Masik" means monthly, and "Krishna Janmashtami" symbolizes the birth of Lord Krishna.
In Hinduism, Janmashtami is one of the most important festivals celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion by Hindus all over India and the world. It marks the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, who is considered to be the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. His birth is believed to bring peace, prosperity and happiness.
While the major Janmashtami festival, known as "Shri Krishna Janmashtami", occurs once a year, the term "Monthly Krishna Janmashtami" refers to celebrating the birth of Krishna every month on the eighth day of the dark fortnight of the lunar month . Devotees often fast, offer special prayers, sing bhajans (devotional songs), and perform plays depicting scenes from the life of Lord Krishna during these festivals.
Although the level of observance and celebration may vary regionally or depending on individual traditions, the annual Janmashtami festival is the most widely recognized and celebrated celebration.
