Khajrana Ganesh is famous among devotees for its miracles. The temple was built by Rani Ahilyabai. According to legend, Lord Ganesh revealed in a dream to a pandit that a statue would be found at this location, leading Ahilyabai to conduct an excavation that uncovered the Khajrana Ganesh idol. Since then, countless devotees have had their wishes fulfilled here. Lord Ganesh never disappoints his devotees, and those who perform special pujas here are sure to have their desires granted. There are many stories prevalent about the establishment of Chintaman Ganpati, known as Swayam-Bhu Sthali. It is believed that during the Pind Daan of King Dasharatha in Ujjain, Lord Shri Ramchandra ji came here and offered prayers. In Satyayuga, Ram, Lakshman and Sita Maa were in exile when they came here while roaming and Sita Maa felt very thirsty. Lakshman ji shot his arrow at this place due to which water came out from the earth and a stepwell was formed here. Mother Sita broke her fast with this water. Then Lord Ram worshiped Chintaman, Lakshman worshiped Ichchaman and Siddhivinayak. That stepwell still exists in front of the temple. Where visitors visit. The present form of this temple was built by Queen Ahilyabai about 250 years ago. Even before this, this temple had been renovated during the Parmar period. The pillars on which this temple rests are from the Parmar period. Devotees from every corner of the country come here to visit. Here devotees, after seeing Lord Ganesha, make an upside down Swastika on the back of the temple and make a wish and when their wish is fulfilled, they come again for darshan and make a straight Swastika on the back of the temple. Many devotees tie Raksha Sutra here and come to leave the Raksha Sutra after their wishes are fulfilled. In the Malwa region of Ujjain, the tradition has been going on for hundreds of years that whoever gets married, his family members come here to get the Lagan written and after the marriage, both the husband and wife come here and have darshan and the Lagan is placed here at the feet of Chintaman ji. On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, a large number of devotees come to Chintaman Ganesh Temple to have darshan of Lord Ganesha. The first invitation to any religious event, auspicious function, marriage etc. is given to Lord Chintaman Ganesh only. Chaitramas Jatra This holy festival is organized to thank the first revered Lord Ganesha. Jatra starts from Wednesday of Chaitra month. Which is celebrated on every Wednesday of this month. Farmers from the surrounding rural areas come to the temple for darshan. Now, along with farmers, common people have also joined this tradition of Jatra. At the time of Jatra, apart from Chintaman, other Ganesh temples also celebrate Jatra. Lord Gajanan is specially decorated on this day. The decoration of the temple courtyard is very attractive. Shops are decorated and people seem very excited about the Jatra. People are seen bustling with activity all around. Special offerings to the Lord are also made during this festival. People offer offerings from quilts in temples on completion of their rituals. People also do charity in this. It concludes on the last Wednesday of Chaitra month. Sesame Festival Along with the kite, spleen also has importance on Makar Sankranti and according to mythological belief, there is importance of offering spleen on Til Chaturthi in the month of Magh to Lord Ganesha. Women fast on this day. And Chintaman offers spleen to Ganesha. According to the time, on Tilli Chaturthi, a grand celebration has started taking place on Chintaman Ganesh and a grand feast of 1.25 lakh laddus has started. Along with Ujjain, people from nearby areas also started coming in thousands and now along with a grand sesame fair on Chaturthi, with the help of devotees and villagers, arrangements of Fariyali Khichdi, milk, jalebi and halwa are made for the devotees on this day. All devotees remain free from worries just by having darshan on Til Chaturthi.
